Example Files¶
OpenDRIVE files to open in the editor: three maps made with ODRMaker, a T-junction, a four-way junction with crossings and a roundabout. Each entry below says what the file shows and what the editor reports when you open it.
To open one, choose it under Help → Samples in the toolbar: the editor opens it as File → Load (Edit locally) would, replacing the current map (see Open a File). To keep a copy, download it from this page.

T-Junction.xodr and Roundabout.xodr were drawn over Ortofoto ČR, © ČÚZK, CC BY 4.0, and record it in their header
(see Choose a Basemap); their thumbnails below show that
imagery.
At a glance¶
| File | Shows | Size | Roads | Junctions | Load findings |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
T-Junction.xodr |
A three-way junction with sidewalks and parking lanes, over imagery | 19 KB | 6 | 1 | 0 |
X-Junction.xodr |
A four-way junction with stop lines, pedestrian and bicycle crossings | 48 KB | 10 | 1 | 0 |
Roundabout.xodr |
A roundabout with three arms, built from arcs and spirals, over imagery | 23 KB | 15 | 3 | 0 |
Roads counts connecting roads too. Load findings is the number in the Findings list of the load dialog; with none, the file opens without the dialog.
Nothing is lost, nothing to decide. The files were saved by the editor, so it drops nothing when you open them, and each opens at once, without the load dialog. After loading, every connecting road is managed, as if it had been made with Connect (see Reshape a Connecting Road), the Linkage findings read Nothing to decide (see Findings), and the Objects/Signals workspace has no findings. Saving keeps every road, junction, connection and object.
T-Junction.xodr¶
A three-way junction traced along real streets in Czechia: a straight road, with a second one joining it from the
side. The roads have sidewalks on both sides and parking lanes along two arms; three two-way connecting roads, each a
single <paramPoly3> curve, link the arms.
- 6 roads (3 roads and 3 connecting roads), 1 junction, 6 connections.
- It opens at once: the load dialog has nothing to report, and the Linkage findings read Nothing to decide.
- The file records Ortofoto ČR, so it opens over the photo the junction was traced over (see Choose a Basemap).
X-Junction.xodr¶
A four-way junction of four straight roads with sidewalks. Six two-way connecting roads, one for each pair of arms, make every turn. Each arm has a stop line and a zebra crossing, and there are three bicycle crossings.
- 10 roads (4 roads and 6 connecting roads), 1 junction, 12 connections, 11 objects: 4 stop lines, 4 zebra crossings and 3 bicycle crossings.
- It opens at once: the load dialog has nothing to report, and the Linkage findings read Nothing to decide.
- The file has no geo reference, so it opens without imagery.
Roundabout.xodr¶
A roundabout with three arms, traced along a real one in Czechia. The ring is a single one-way lane, about 6.7 m wide;
it is made of three junctions, one at each arm. Between the junctions the ring is a road shaped by one <arc>; inside
each junction, by a connecting road shaped by one <spiral>. The arms and the connecting roads that enter and leave
the ring are <paramPoly3> curves (see Road Geometry).
- 15 roads (6 roads and 9 connecting roads), 3 junctions, 9 connections.
- It opens at once: the load dialog has nothing to report, and the Linkage findings read Nothing to decide.
- The file records Ortofoto ČR, so it opens over the photo the roundabout was traced over.
